Registration: This is a value addition to the mail. This provides a secure mode of transmission and the article is accounted for at every stage of handling from collection to delivery. An additional fee of Rs. 17/- is charged. Customer can also avail the acknowledgement facility at a further additional fee of Rs. 3/-. The delivery and movement of the article is trackable in India Post Site. The Department pays ex-gratia compensation to the customer, in case the article is lost in course of transmission. The detailed handling process is explained later.
Insurance: Insurance service is more secure transmission method. An additional fee apart from registration is charged. This system covers all risks during transmission and in case the article is lost, the department pays compensation to the extent of insured amount, subject to certain conditions. Acknowledgement is free. This category is also trackable. The handling process is explained later.
Value Payable: Through this system, the sender of the article can recover the amount specified from the addressee, on delivery of the article and have the amount paid back to him. The amount collected is remitted back to sender through value payable money order service.
